Naval Engineers JournalVolume 75, Issue 2 p. 311-316 THE ASW SHIP SYSTEM CAPTAIN RICHARD J. NESBITT USN, CAPTAIN RICHARD J. NESBITT USN The author is graduated from the U. S. Naval Academy with the class of 1940. He first served in the USS NEVADA. Assigned to the Naval Construction and Engineering Course at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology he was designated as an Engineering Duty Officer upon graduation in 1945. Since then he has been assigned various construction and repair duties on both East and West Coasts and in Pearl Harbor, and as Material Officer, COMSERV-PAC Staff. Prior to his current assignment in the Bureau of Ships he was the Production Officer at Puget Sound Naval Shipyard.
