Abstract
The need of natural ventilation in buildings has placed more emphasis on site planning in order to find the relationship between natural ventilation and the layout of architecture. This can reduce the energy consumption and the adverse effects of outdoor wind, to improve the living environment, quality of life and create a harmony between human and the nature. In this paper, we use Air-Pak to simulate the wind environment of an area. Through analyzing and simulating the airfield that forms when the wind blows around the buildings using Air-Pak, the advantage of combining computer simulation software and residential area planning is explained Through the simulation of the outdoor environment’s effects on buildings, some advice is given regarding the layout of the site early in the planning stage.
