Abstract

A total of 38 peptides have been isolated from a trypsin digest of T4 phage lysozyme by the methods of column and paper chromatography and paper electrophoresis. A determination of the amino acid sequence of 26 of these peptides accounts for a total of 164 amino acid residues in the lysozyme. Utilizing information obtained from the other incompletely digested peptides, i.e. those which contain two tryptic peptides or more, it has been possible to reassemble the data to represent 20 unique fragments of this enzyme.
