Abstract
The authors report results, obtained by a multi-step laser excitation technique, on the (5d3/2,5/2; np and nf) J=1 autoionizing states in barium. The observed series exhibit noticeable electronic channel interactions. The agreement between these results and a theoretical approach that combines eigenchannel R-matrix and multichannel quantum defect methods gives further support to this approach.
