Naval Engineers JournalVolume 98, Issue 1 p. 75-78 The 270-Foot MECS - Capable Coast Guard Cutters Cdr. Kenneth J. Allington USCG, Commanding Officer USCGC Bear (WMEC-901) Cdr. Kenneth J. Allington, USCG, is a 1966 Coast Guard Academy graduate. He served at sea in the cutters Escanaba and Active and as executive officer in the cutter Munro. He earned a BS degree in civil engineering from the University of Illinois. He has served in the civil engineering branches of the Ninth and the Eleventh Coast Guard Districts and as civil engineering chief in the Twerfh District.
