Abstract

The calculations of γ-vibrations are extended to odd-mass nuclei. The essential assumptions of the even case are maintained, including the harmonic approximation. In the construction of the phonons, care is taken of the Pauli principle. It is concluded that the quadrupole correlations provide a useful way of explaining the present experimental material, although, as in the even case, some difficulties remain unexplained.
