Abstract
Both testosterone deficiency and cardiovascular diseases (CVD) increase with advancing age in men [1]. Data from several studies mount evidence that men with endogenous testosterone deficiency are at increased cardiovascular risk. Epidemiological studies have shown a high prevalence of low serum testosterone levels in men with CVD. Furthermore, a low testosterone level is associated, in observational studies, with an increase in cardiovascular events and mortality. Several CVD risk factors such as obesity, hypertension, diabetes, high cholesterol and inflammation are more prevalent in men with low testosterone [1].
