Se trata de un extenso volumen, dedicado a la música en tiempos de los Reyes Católicos, que se suma a otros recientes con los que contrasta en sus planteamientos.Así, en 2012 apareció el segundo tomo de la Historia de la música en España e Hispanoamérica, editado por Maricarmen Gómez Muntané para el Fondo de Cultura Económica, abarcando el periodo entre los Reyes Católicos y Felipe II, mientras que en 2015 se publicó The Cambridge History of Fifteenth-Century Music, editado por Anna Maria Busse Berger y Jesse Rodin para la Cambridge University Press.
