Abstract

Abstract. The conflict that occurred in Ambon in 1999 between Christians and Muslims still left deep trauma for the people in the city of Ambon, especially for members of the congregation at the Church X. This research aimed to examine the post conflict traumatic experience on the Church X conggregations and seeking remedial steps for them. The method used in this research was a case study with a trauma theology approach based on the culture of the Orang Basudara. The research result showed that the integration of trauma theology with local cultural philosophy can be an effective means for healing trauma resulting from communal conflict because it departs from a philosophy of life that has been lived together regardless of religious differences.
