Abstract

The optical constants of soda-lime-silica glass are described from 10 to 45 cm −1 for temperatures of 1.8, 4.2 and 293°K. The power absorption coefficient changes from a wavenumber-squared dependence at 293°K to an almost cubic dependence at 1.8°K, while the refractive index falls from a mean value of 2.586 at 293°K to 2.51 at 1.8°K.
