Abstract

Temperature dependence of the resistivity and its anisotropy of Ba 2YCu 3O 7−y single crystals are presented. Along the ab-plane, the resistivity has a metallic temperature dependence, while along the c-axis, semiconducting behavior is observed. The c-axis temperature dependence of resistivity is analyzed in terms of three cases; i.e. activation type, transmission above a small height barrier and 1/T dependence, which is proposed by Anderson for resonating valence bond (RVB) model.
