Abstract

A study has been conducted in ord er to investigate how the sp ecific heat requ irements in the stripp er reboiler of a M EA capture p lant changes with chan gin g temp erature. It was found that the increase in h eat demand is dr amatic when lowerin g the temp erature, ap p roximately 40% when the temp erature chan ges from 120 to 90° C. Heat integration with a ref inery was also studied, and showed that even if the heat demand was lar ger for the lower temp erature the heat integration p ossibilities were also larger for the base case.
