Abstract
The traditional hospital-based service is beginning to change and services are beginning to be delivered through other, more modern, electronic methods. This paper outlines the new generation of services called ‘telehealth’ and suggests that the home is now becoming an extension of the hospital/GP surgery for many people with long-term conditions who are using telehealth devices to support and manage their conditions. The paper also provides a brief overview of other electronic services that are becoming established within the health field.
