Abstract

Following on from the theme of careers in the August edition of The Biochemist, the Society held a Careers Advice Workshop for Young Researchers as part of its Cardiff meeting in July. The Workshop was held during an afternoon session and was aimed exclusively at postgraduate biological science students. It attracted over 60 delegates from a range of universities. Students from as far away as Scotland attended the event and a number from London organized a group to travel to Cardiff for the day. The students were very eager to gain as much insight as possible into various careers from the professionals present. Many students felt that entering the workforce after studying for such a long time, although exciting, was often a daunting prospect and advice on what is on offer was always useful.
