Abstract

The researchers desire to find out the foremost reason of the employee in leaving his job as perceived by the respondents from the two schools in Ozamiz City. This study utilized the descriptive survey method. The inputs of this study consisted of the profile of the respondents, as to age, gender and civil status. The items employed to determine the foremost or primary reason why employees leave their jobs are the following: job dissatisfaction, lack of confidence in the company, compensation, lack of challenge and dissatisfaction with co-workers. The results point out that there are more young (18 to 29) teachers employed in the private school than in the public school. The female teachers in both schools are greater in number compared with the males. As regards to civil status there are more unmarried individuals in the private school, while there are more married teachers in the public school. The respondents in the two schools disclosed that compensation is the foremost reason that an employee leaves his job followed by dissatisfaction with co-workers. The lack of challenge in the work is not an important reason to leave the job as perceived by some of the respondents from the private school.
