Abstract

Taxonomic revisions and reviews of leaf-mining Lepidoptera, with documentation and description of new taxa were among the main goals of research conducted at the Biosystematics Research Group (previously Minological Unit) of Vilnius Pedagogical University, Lithuania. Among 405 new species described by members of the Research Group (solely or with co-authors, i. e. D. R. Davis, G. S. Robinson, E. J. van Nieukerken, W. Mey, D. C. Lees), 322 species belong to Nepticuloidea and Tischerioidea and represent a large portion (nearly 1/3) of the currently known world fauna of nepticuloids and tischerioids. Thirteen synonyms or unpublished species which have already been discovered and recognized but await publication (about 80 species) were excluded from the count.
