Abstract

In this paper, a target capacity based simultaneous multibeam power allocation (TC-SMPA) scheme is developed for multiple target tracking (MTT) in colocated MIMO (C-MIMO) radar system. The key idea of this scheme is to properly allocate the system's limited transmit power resource to its multiple beams, with the purpose of increasing the number of the targets that can be tracked with desired accuracies. We adopt the Bayesian Cramér-Rao lower bound as a metric function to gauge targets’ tracking accuracy, and build the TC-SMPA scheme as a non-smooth and non-convex optimization problem. To solve this problem, we design an efficient solution technique, which incorporates relaxation and a fine tuning process. Simulation results demonstrate that the proposed TC-SMPA scheme can greatly increase the target capacity of the C-MIMO radar when compared with the traditional uniform allocation scheme.
