Abstract

Tangential goniometry based on the principle of mechanical strain measurement is proposed for evaluating human body deformities or mobility. This features continuous body contour matching; defined measuring plane P2 due to rigidity in measured surface P1 (Fig. 1); stable physical characteristics; simple mechanical structure; ease of transformation of the measured angle into electric signal for CAD contour and shape reconstruction; can be integrated into orthopaedic appliances for monitoring activity. The novel design of ANGULATOR--flexible polycentric goniometer is presented.
