Abstract

This chapter reviews academic literature on intrapreneurship and human resource management from the last 13 years. It aims to elucidate the role of talent management in fostering intrapreneurship, as well as identifying avenues for future research on intrapreneurial talent management. In so doing, the chapter primarily draws upon Collings and Mellahi’s work on talent management systems. It highlights challenges, as well as practical and research opportunities that may inform the work of scholars and talent management/HR professionals. Mobilizing talent essentially concerns the movement of talent across the organization and how this can drive engagement. The systematic review showed that studies examining the mobilization of talent focused on talent management practices related to interpersonal and performance management, as well as job design. Longitudinally mapping the implementation and outcomes of new recruitment procedures for intrapreneurial talent, or randomly assigning employees to intrapreneurial and non-intrapreneurial company training would afford an evaluation of the effectiveness and design of talent management systems for intrapreneurship.
