Abstract
The aim of this study is to determine the species of the family Tettigoniidae (Orthoptera) in Izmir during the years of 1990-1993. At the result of this research, totally 40 species belonging to the genera Acrometopa Fieber, Anadolua Ramme, Anterastes Brunner von Wattenwyl, Bucephaloptera Ebner, Bradyporus Charpentier, Conocephalus Thunberg, Decticus Serville, Drymadusa Stein, Eupholidoptera Maran, Isophya Brunner von Wattenwyl, Parapholidoptera Maran, Phaneroptera Serville, Platycleis Fieber, Poecilimon Fischer, Psorodonotus Brunner von Wattenwyl, Rhacocleis Fieber, Saga Charpentier, Tettigonia Linnaeus and Tylopsis Fieber, have been determined in the study area. Two species, namely Anterastes serbicus Brunner von Wattenwyl and Psorodonotus anatolicus Karabag have been found for the first time in Izmir Province. The material examined and biological notes for each species are given in the text.
