Abstract

Condensation of the heterocyclic ketones 2-acetyl pyridine, 2-acetyl furan, 2-acetyl thiophene and 2-acetyl indole with thiosemicarbazide or semicarbazide hydrochloride yields the corresponding Schiff bases which, when subsequently reacted with molybdenum acetylacetonate, give addition products of the type [MoO2L2] (where L=Schiff base). The complexes have been characterized by physicochemical and spectroscopic methods.
