Abstract
In the present research work the synthesis of Manganese (II) and Iron (III) metal complexes that have been synthesized by the chemical reaction of Metal nitrate with the ligand Alprazolam drug and complexes of transition metal ions having general formula [(L) M(NO3)2], [(L)M(NO3)3] here M=Mn(II) and Fe(III) and L= Alprazolam drug. The characterization of metal complexes of transition metal ions have been done by spectral studies (IR studies), Molar mass & Elemental analysis data .The shifting in Infra Red (IR) frequencies of alprazolam ligand bands confirms the coordination with the metal ion. Spectral studies of Metal complexes depict the bidentate and tridentate nature with [N (1) & N (4)] positions of drug Alprazolam ligand. The effect of metal complexation on the antimicrobial activity of Alprazolam drug was investigated. Antimicrobial activity revealed that the metal complex of Manganese (II) is more effective than the Iron (III) metal complex. In this study, it is found that the metal complexes of transition metal ions showed more antimicrobial activity than the parent ligand alprazolam.
