Abstract

In this paper, we have reported the synthesis and use of an organic semiconductor Zn(II) 5,10,15,20-tetrakis(4′-isopropylphenyl) porphyrin (ZnTIPP) as an active material in a surface type sensor. Ag/ZnTIPP/Ag sensor was fabricated by thermal sublimation of ZnTIPP on a glass substrate with preliminary deposited surface type silver electrodes. Semiconducting channel between silver electrodes was 0.04 mm × 15 mm. Changes in electrical measurements of the device were observed with increase of relative humidity, illumination, and temperature. A small degree of hysteresis and acceptable response and recovery times were observed over a wide range of relative humidity. Activation energy of the ZnTIPP was estimated.
