Abstract

Abstract The preparation of titanium dioxide (TiO2) particles is optimized by two different methods based on the sol-gel method. The degradation experiment of methyl orange showed that sample B prepared by the two-step ethanol method had better catalytic performance than sample A prepared by the one-step ethanol method. In addition, X-ray diffraction (XRD) testing revealed there was a rutile phase in sample B in addition to the anatase phase, and the catalytic degradation experiment proved that the existence of a rutile phase was conducive to improving the photocatalytic efficiency of TiO2.
