Abstract

Synthesis of aliphatic biodegradable polyesters nanoparticles as drug carrier for cancer treatment

Highlights

  • Development of biodegradable nanoparticles for effective protein, DNA, drug, and peptide delivery is an interesting research area that has been attracting much attention in the past few decades (Barratt et al, 2003)

  • One major downside of using nanoparticles as polymeric drug carriers is their rapid removal from the blood stream through phagocytosis after intravenous administration and recognition by the macrophages of the mononuclear phagocyte

  • PEG is used as ahydrophilic segment that could be bonded to different hydrophobic segment

Introduction

Development of biodegradable nanoparticles for effective protein, DNA, drug, and peptide delivery is an interesting research area that has been attracting much attention in the past few decades (Barratt et al, 2003). The synthesized copolymers were exploited to prepare core-shell nanoparticles with hydrophobic PHA and hydrophilic mPEG forming the core and shell, respectively.
