Abstract
substituted η 4-(1-oxiranyl-diene) iron tricarbonyl complexes of known configuration are easily synthesized as pure diastereomers. They undergo regiospecific Lewis acid mediated reductions to afford α-alkyl β-hydroxy dienes which represent subunits of various polyenic macrolactones and related natural products. © 1997 Elsevier Science Ltd.
