Abstract

Monodispersed Zn 2SiO 4:Mn 2+ green nanophosphors were synthesized via a hydrothermal method. The spherical Zn 2SiO 4:Mn 2+ nanophosphors with a diameter of 60 nm exhibited an intensive broad emission around 525 nm. The Zn 2SiO 4:Mn 2+ nanophosphors post treated at 1300 °C kept the spherical uniform morphology and had the maximum photoluminescence (PL) intensity, which was 86% of that of the commercial bulk product. For Zn 2SiO 4:Mn 2+, A 2+ (A = Mg, Ca, Sr or Ba), the improvements on PL intensity and decay time were evaluated. The decay time of Zn 2SiO 4:Mn 2+, Mg 2+ was 4.981 ms, which would be an appropriate time for the plasma display panels. The PL intensity of Zn 2SiO 4:Mn 2+, Ca 2+ was comparable with that of commercial bulk phosphors.
