Abstract

Blue-white emitting Ba2MgSiO5: Eu2+ phosphor was synthesized by solid-state reaction. Its excitation and emission spectra were studied. The results showed that its emission band consists of two peak wavelengths locating at 488 and 565 nm, respectively. The two peaks are originated from the transition 5d → 4f of Eu2+ ions which occupied two Ba2+ sites in the crystal of Ba2MgSiO5. When the Eu2+ concentration was 0.02 mol, the sample presented intense blue-white emitting. The excitation spectra extending from 300 nm to 500 nm indicated that Ba2MgSiO5: Eu2+ phosphor can be excited by blue or near violet emission effectively.
