Abstract

We have prepared the tetranuclear palladium complex [Pd 4(μ-dppm) 4(μ 4-S)] ( 1) capped by a μ 4-bonded sulfide and crystallographically characterized it. Four Pd atoms are bridged by four dppm ligands to form the rectangular Pd 4 core, which are capped by the μ 4-bonded sulfide from the side above the Pd 4 plane. It was suggested that the μ 4-bonded S atom is derived from the cleavage of the CS bond of diethyldithio-carbamate. Complex 1 has the following crystal data: monoclinic, C2/c, a = 30.503(8), b = 12.061(2), c = 31.686(7) A ̊ , β = 118.25(2)°, V = 10268(8) A ̊ 3, Z = 4, R = 0.051, R w = 0.070 .
