Abstract

Treatment of PPh 4[Fe 2(CO) 6(μ-CO)(μ-C(Ph)C(Ph)H)] with Me 3OSbCl 6 gives the chloro-bridged derivative [Fe 2(CO) 6(μ-Cl)(μ-C(Ph)C(Ph)H)]. The structure of this compound has been established by X-ray diffraction. The title complex appears to be formed by successive methylation of bridging carbon monoxide and replacement of the methoxycarbyne by the chloride ligand.
