Abstract
A new method has been developed for the synthesis of gold nanoparticles by the reaction of auric acid with sodium selenosulphate, under ambient conditions. Gold nanoparticles were efficiently stabilized by polyvinyl alcohol even at a low concentration. Further, the effect of auric acid, sodium selenosulphate and stabilizer concentrations on the size of the gold nanoparticles has also been studied. The synthesized gold nanoparticles have been characterized by UV-visible optical absorption spectroscopy, X-ray powder diffraction, energy dispersive X-ray analysis, dynamic light scattering, atomic force microscopy and transmission electron microscopy techniques.
