Abstract

The trihydride complex IrH 3 (CO)(dppe) (dppe=1,2-bis(diphenylphosphino) ethane) reacts with primary, secondary, and tertiary silanes to yield mono- and bis(silyl) hybride complexes of the formulas IrH 2 (SiRR' 2 )(CO)(dppe) (1) and IrH(SiRR' 2 ) 2 (CO)(dppe) (2). The different silanes used include Ph 3 SiH, Et 3 SiH, Me 3 SiH, Me 2 ClSiH, MeCl 2 SiH, Ph 2 SiH 2 , Me 2 SiH 2 , PhSiH 3 , and EtSiH 3 . The reactions were monitored by 1 H NMR and 31 P NMR spectroscopies, which allow unambiguous assignment of the coordination geometries of the products
