Abstract

Abstract Fifteen new oxo crown ethers having a ferrocene unit as an integral part of the ring member are reported. These oxo crown ethers were synthesized by the reaction of 1,1′-bis(chloroformyl)ferrocene with oligoethylene glycols or heterocyclic dialcohol compounds such as 2,6-bis(hydroxymethyl)pyridine by the high dilution method. Complexing ability of these compounds with alkali, alkaline earth, and transition metal cations was measured by the solvent extraction method.
