Abstract

Six new transition metal coordination polymers (CPs) based on polycarboxylate and isomeric terpyridyl carboxylate ligands, namely, [Co(333cptpy)2]n·2nH2O (1), [Co2(333cptpy)2(ox)(H2O)2]n (2), [Co(233cptpy)2(H2O)2]n (3), [Ni2(333cptpy)2(H1,3,5-btc)(H2O)2]n·2nH2O (4), [Ni2(233cptpy)(1,3,5-btc)(H2O)2]n·3nH2O (5), [Cu3(333cptpy)2(m-bdc)2]n(6), (H333cptpy = 4′-(3-carboxyphenyl)-3,2′:6′,3"-terpyridine, H233cptpy = 4′-(2-carboxyphenyl)-3,2′:6′,3"-terpyridine, H2ox=oxalic acid, H3(1,3,5-btc) = benzene-1,3,5-tricarboxylic acid, H2(m-bdc) = benzene-1,3-dicarboxylic acid) have been obtained. Compound 1 exhibits a 1D loop chain structure. Compound 2 displays a (3,6)-connected 3D topological network with point symbol of {4.82}2{42.811.102}. Compound 3 is also a 1D loop chain structure. Compound 4 shows a (3,6)-connected 3D network with point symbol of {4.82}2{42.812.10}. Compound 5 demonstrates a classical 3D rtl network with point symbol of {4.62}2{42.610.83}. Compound 6 presents an interesting (3,4,6)-connected net based on paddle-wheel copper(II) units with point symbol of {4.62}2{42.68.83.102}{64.82}. The magnetic properties are discussed in detail.
