Abstract
3 GPa-strength stainless steel wire was prepared. Sub-20 nm martensite generated from original austenite which is metastable and possesses low stacking fault energy. Based on quantitative analysis of microstructural parameters from HEXRD and TEM, the sub-20 nm martensite leveraging the advantage of heterostructure props up the ultra-high strength of the wire.
