Abstract
Starting from a general neutral hadronic current in the quark model, we derive formulas which express various neutral-current versus charged-current cross-section ratios in terms of the parameters involved in that current. These formulas are useful in analyzing symmetry properties of the weak neutral currents. The processes investigated include the elastic neutrino-nucleon scattering, the neutrino-induced production of a single pion, and the inclusive neutrino reactions. An analysis of existing data indicates that some simple structures for this current are already excluded or are unfavorable, and that the success of the Weinberg model is indeed very impressive. The importance of isobar production data in such an analysis is clarified.
