Abstract

"Symphonic dances", the culmination of Rachmaniniff’s late work, is characterized by its synthesis of expressive musical and stylistic means. The symphonic cycle's world is based on the interaction of intonational, genre, historical, and stylistic contexts, forming a complex that is comparable in depth and content to mythmaking. Based on the principles of symphonism, the artistic concept of the work is built in a special philosophical, mythopoetic model of time - the main factor in the symbolic dramaturgy of the cycle. The article analyzes the symbolism of "Symphonic Dances" in relation to the motive system, the dramaturgy of the cycle and touches on the issues of rhetoric and stylistic semantics of the work.
