Abstract

AbstractAs a new type of gear, line gear has a potential application prospect in miniature machinery. In this paper, the accurate geometric modeling method of miniature line gear by sweeping method was studied, and the driving and driven center curve equations were modified. Then, with a set of given design parameters, the selection range of sweeping section parameters was obtained to avoid curvature interference. And then, based on the maximum contact stress of miniature line gear, the selection method of modeling parameters of geometric model was proposed. Finally, by comparing the contact stresses of two pairs of miniature line gears, the feasibility of the proposed parameters selection method was proved. And the maximum contact stress of miniature line gear was decreased from 1530 to 430 MPa. The accurate modeling method and parameters selection method proposed in this paper provide geometric basis for the subsequent theoretical research of lubrication and adhesion.KeywordsMiniature line gearSweeping modeling methodCenter curve equationsContact stress
