Abstract

In this paper space vector modulated control of Matrix Converter (MC) topology is used with Squirrel Cage Induction Generator (SCIG) for wind power generation systems. The SCIG stator frequency is appropriately tuned to attain active power flow into the grid. In the proposed topology, a gearless wind energy conversion system is used. The MC acts as an interface between the grid and SCIG. Space Vector Pulse Width Modulation (SVPWM) strategy is employed for the control of the MC switches. This paper also analyses and compares the results with pulse width modulation technique. The stator and grid voltage, current waveforms and its THD spectrum are analysed by using MatLab/Simulink software.
