Abstract

Recent calculations1 of the susceptibility of the symmetric Anderson model, done with K. G. Wilson and J. W.,Wilkins, are presented. The results map nicely on to the susceptibility of the Kondo model. The approach, based on the numerical renormalization group techniques developed by Wilson for the Spin‐1/2 Kondo Hamiltonian2, is also suitable for calculating the susceptibility of the asymmetric Anderson model, and preliminary results are reported. Work on the possible extension of the techniques to calculate transport properties, and on the connection with phenomenological treatments is being pursued.
