Abstract

Objective To understand the epidemic of the influenza-like illness ( ILI ) and the knowledge about influenza prevention and control in Zhejiang Xingye Group,in order to give suggestions for influenza prevention and control.Methods Descriptive epidemiological method was used to describe the epidemiological characteristics,population age and education level of the ILI cases in the company from 2008 to 2010.The knowledge about the influenza prevention and control were analysed through the questionnaire.Results A total of 5187 ILI cases were reported in the company from 2008 to 2010,the cases occurred in every month,with a peak occurrence in August and December.Highest incidence rate was reported in 2009( 15.5% ).In different age greups,50-year-old and older group had the highest incidence,amounted to 22.8%.In different education level groups,the illiteracy had the highest incidence,amounted to 57.7 %.The difference of knowledge qualified rate among different age groups had no statistical significances( x2 =6.39,P > 0.05).The difference of knowledge qualified rate among different education level groups had statistical significances (x2=71.20,P <0.05).The education level was lower,the knowledge qualified rate was lower,too.Conclusions The epidemic of influenza in the company is seasonal with two peaks,which agreed with the seasonal characteristics in the southern region of China.The epidemiological characteristics suggests that August and December are the most important season in influenza prevention,old people and illiteracy are the most important population in influenza prevention and control.
