Abstract

AbstractPurposeThe aim of our study is to evaluate the possibility for pharmaceutically mediated endothelial corneal proliferation in patients with corneal dystrophies.MethodsIt’s a cohort prospective study. We perform full ophthalmic examination /best corrected visual acuity for distance and near, tonometry, biomicroscopy, ophthalmoscopy, endothelial cell count/. We divide our patients with corneal endothelial dystrophies into two groups for therapeutic options: Group A and Group B. Patients from group A recieved only pharmaceutical product – a Rho‐kinase inhibitor to stimulate the proliferation of corneal endothelial cells. In Group B stripping of Descemet membrane is performed, in combination with a Rho‐kinase inhibitor.ResultsAll data from our study were statistically analyzed.ConclusionsSurgically induced pharmaceutically mediated corneal endothelial profileration showed promising results.
