Abstract
This is a descriptive atlas that by design is not intended as a critical analysis of varied surgical techniques, but rather presents surgical procedures that are routinely used by the authors in head and neck surgery. On controversial academic matters, however, several points of view are often discussed. The book is liberally illustrated with excellent sequential drawings of sometimes complex surgical procedures. It also includes some photographs illustrating before-and-after comparisons of reconstructive procedures. The book is well written, and descriptions of basic anatomy, especially lymphatic drainage systems, are superb. It is, therefore, easily read, which is a tribute to the experience and teaching skills of the author. Notably lacking is a pertinent bibliography of important supplementary reading that would be of special value to the resident in training in head and neck surgery and of added value to the reader seeking more detailed information on a particular topic.
