Abstract

Radiation enteritis is a rare complication of abdominopelvic radiotherapy at the present time. Chronic radiation enteritis with complications, e.g. stricture, perforation and fistula formation, causes significant morbidity and mortality. We present our experience with 4 cases of small bowel radiation injury manifested by intestinal obstruction or perforation. Wide resection of the lesion bowel with non-irradiated bowel for anastomosis will resolve the poor healing capacity of the irradiated bowel and obtain a satisfying results.
