Abstract
Anterior open bite (AOB) is one of the most difficult types of malocclusion to be corrected. It's high relapse rate and multifactorial etiology make clinicians a challenge to treat satisfactorily. Gummy smile is generally considered an esthetically compromised characteristic and can be improved by several treatment modalities according to different etiologies. When upper jaw presents gummy smile accompanying with anterior open bite, it becomes a more complicated clinical problem to be solved. The authors present a 25-year-old woman, whose orthodontist referred her to the surgeon for orthognathic surgery to correct the anterior open bite with gummy smile.
