Abstract

Audio-video (AV) recording in the operating room (OR) brings a multitude of potential benefits to both patients and surgeons. Video-based case presentations are common at conferences, facilitating education and knowledge dissemination, and case recordings are easily accessible online for viewers of all backgrounds. Video-based surgical coaching has been shown to improve technical skills in both trainees and attending surgeons.1,2 Additionally, the identification of an association between high technical skill and fewer patient complications represents an opportunity for improved patient outcomes through surgeon self-reflection via video review.
