Abstract
We study theoretically the interaction of vibrational modes localized at a surface of a superlattice with acoustic phonons injected from a substrate. We calculate both numerically and analytically the phase time of the phonons reflected from the superlattice. We find sharp enhancements in the phase time, suggesting their strong interactions. The results indicate that the existence of the surface vibrational modes can be examined by a time-resolved phonon reflection experiment.
