Abstract

Bulk and surface magnons (spin-waves) in Heisenberg ferromagnetic semi-infinite superlattices are considered theoretically within the interface response theory. Each layer is modelled by a simple-cubic lattice of spins coupled via nearest-neighbour exchange interactions. The magnons have been calculated numerically for superlattices composed of two or three different ferromagnetic materials. We address the question of surface magnons when the number of atomic planes in the material at the surface is variable.
