Abstract

The composition of the cutermost surface layers of polycrystalline CuBe alloys has been investigated by Auger electron spectroscopy (AES). Relative changes in the surface composition under Ar + ion bombardment at different fluences up to the steady-state conditions have been monitored by AES in ultrahigh vacuum. The experimental results are compared to those obtained using a dynamic computer simulation code.
