Abstract

SUMMARY Adrenalectomized mice of the strain used by Bibile [1953] were primed with 20 μg adrenaline in an attempt to inhibit the eosinopenia caused by an injection of dog's arterial plasma. This dose of adrenaline is insufficient to abolish completely the eosinopenia due to plasma, and is toxic to the test animals. Thus the only satisfactory way of using the mouse eosinophil test for the assay of cortical steroids in dog plasma is to precede the assay by a chemical extraction of the hormone.
